Learning to cook is a process and becoming a specialist is on my list. This goal is going to take a while to accomplish. I have known this to be especially true for me ever since that fateful day when I so severely messed up microwavable macaroni and cheese. You should know that I only let a select few in on that little secret. Today, I was inspired by the commercials for the movie Julie & Julia and thought now is as good a time as any to give it a try so I printed a recipe from the Internet, put on my toque, and headed to the kitchen: On tonight’s menu…Chicken Francese.
I made sure I had all the ingredients and pulled out any cooking utensils I thought I might need. To my advantage no one else was home, so the mess that led to what would eventually become my dinner, was not a big concern. And I did make a mess…
But I had fun.
First, I prepared the chicken by breading the cutlets and frying them according to my recipe. When they were ready, I placed them in a baking dish and let them set. In a small pan I combined all the secret ingredients to make the sauce. Then I put everything in a baking dish and let bake for 40 minutes.
While waiting, I set out on the daunting task to clean the kitchen, make a salad, and prepare an easy dessert. By the time the dinner bell rang, the kitchen was clean and I was excited to see how my first dinner had turned out.
Not too bad for my first try.
